Jotirao Phule wrote the book 'Shetkaryaya Asud' in 1873. Today after so many years and with so many other editions available, one might wonder why the book needs to be edited again; But if you think a little, you can find the answer to that question. The condition of the farmers in the country at the time when 'Asood' was written, is not essentially different even today. If anything, it has worsened, it can be easily noticed from the suicides of one and a half lakh farmers in the last few years. Jotirao's diagnosis that the country has no future unless the problems of dryland sheep in this country are solved is equally true today. Also, what can be the direction to solve that question, the conversation made by Jotirao will be a guide even today. This means that what Jotirao said in this book 64 years before the independence of India is as important today even after 64 years of independence, this alone is enough reason to re-edit the book.
